Shamatha-Vipashyana Meditation
Ryan Post

Yoga 101 is taking a summer break and will begin again soon.

Shamatha-Vipashyana Meditation is a practice of sitting upright, eyes open and hands resting on the thighs. Quite simply, the intention of this meditation practice is to become aware of our breath as goes in and it goes out. We practice learning to stay with focus on our breath, but also to become relaxed and soft while doing so. We will become ‘carried away’ by our internal dialogues as our attention is distracted by a variety of other stimuli, including sounds, sights, memories and intrusive thoughts. As we ‘spin off’ in our thinking, planning, worrying, judging, etc., we practice with working with our commonly distracted minds and learn to ‘come home’ to this very moment again, again and again.
Classes are on Wednesday  from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. This class is free, please call to reserve a space.
